Our History

We stand behind our reputation and will continue to serve our community with the values instilled by our funeral directors.

In 1975, Harry and Alva Creech bought McLeod's Funeral Home in Wainwright, Alberta. McLeod's Funeral Home was a locally owned family business which had been started by Mr. Frank McLeod in 1921. Mr. Frank McLeod was 83 years old at the time of the sale to the Creech's. Out of respect for the McLeod Family, Harry and Alva operated the business as McLeod's Funeral Home for many years.

In 1991, Harry and Alva's son, Todd began working with them in the funeral home. Todd and his wife Sandra are now owner/managers of the Wainwright location, which is now called Creech's Funeral Home. In 1993 Harry and Alva's daughter, Kim joined them in the funeral business. With both of their children becoming involved in the business, Harry and Alva moved to Lloydminster and started Creech's Funeral Home.

In 1997 the Creechs opened Crossroads Funeral Chapel In 2002 they moved to their present location on Vermilion's main street in the former RCMP building. The Creech's brought the first crematorium to the area in the year 2000 . It was situated in Lloydminster until November of 2009 when Harry and Alva moved it to Vermilion where it is more centralized. The crematorium has served the cremation needs of over 1600 families.

Harry and Alva are extremely proud that both their children, Todd and Kim, are licensed funeral directors and that the family business that will meet the needs of the people for many years to come.

Our Philosophy

Our family has been serving families for 38 years.

Families have trusted us, for many years because we are small town people, we know the area, and we make our own decisions, right here. We cherish the important place we occupy in the memories of the people we have served.

Today's contemporary funeral traditions offer a wide range of choices to help families commemorate a loved one, and to celebrate the dignity and joy of life.  We take great pride in explaining  those choices, in helping you choose exactly the kind of service you desire.

We understand that families turn to us at the most sensitive, difficult times.  That's why we consider it our responsibility to fulfill your trust with a wide range of commemorative services that help provide a meaningful memory for you and your family.

But we also understand that our service to you doesn't end with the funeral.  So we offer referrals to grief recovery programs and or counseling services, and complimentary consultation about funeral arrangements and other matters. As well as our open door policy, Day or Night, we are personally available to our communities.

Choices. Affordable prices. Above all, caring attentive, personal service.
