Obituary of Wesley Horton Parsons
Wes Parsons, of Viking, AB and formerly of Irma, AB on August 8, 2009, went to be with his beloved Betty, who predeceased him on November 8, 2007 and whom he missed so much. They are together again at peace with love and joy. He is much loved and will forever be held in the hearts of his children; Betty Rae Gray (Bill) of New Norway, AB, Valerie Watson (Ken) of Middleton, Manchester, UK, Bobbie Anne Bennett (Wayne), Jim Kirkman (Geraldine) all of Irma, Jean Moses (Ric), Onoway, AB, Patti Smith (Lane), Grande Prairie, AB, Alan Parsons (Louise), Stettler, AB, Leonard Parsons, and Tom Parsons (Gerry) all of Irma. He is also survived and will be greatly missed by 39 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild as well as one brother, Howard Parsons and his family of Rossland, BC and Metaline Falls, Washington State. He was predeceased by his parents, George & Flora Parsons; brother, Leonard Parsons; sister-in-law, Marj Parsons; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean & Cliff Saville. He will also be missed by a large number of other relatives and dear friends whose lives he has touched. He was a life member of the Irma Elks Club, a devoted member of Gratton-Connaught Masonic Lodge #144, and the Irma Legion. A firm believer in giving back to his community, Wes gave time freely for hockey, ball and any other community events. He was a founding member of Al Shamal Shrine, a member of the Al Shamal Director’s Staff and a member of the Al-Wa Shrine Club where he served as President for two terms.
