Dianne, Melody, Don and Families:
It was extreme sadness that I heard of your mother’s passing today. I have many, many fond memories of your mom and dad from my years in Vermilion. As soon as I transferred into Vermilion, in 1972, they immediately welcomed me into their home as one of the family. They always included me in the family gathering…. birthdays, suppers, etc. etc. A terrific couple. I will always remember your mom as a “first lady” appearance. Her hair was always perfect and she always dressed impeccably…. And could she ever cook too!!!!! She went out of her way to find out what my favourite food was and never failed to invite me over regularly for a real feast. I visited her several years ago in the nursing home in Vermilon and we were able to communicate and reminisce of the good times we had shared. Although she had a few brief moments of memory failure, the visit was indeed a great pleasure. I did see her again in 2016 at the Innisfree truck stop. Melleny and me stopped there for dinner and she was there with the group bus from Vermilion, also having dinner. I was able to have a short visit with her before the bus left, and those moments will be forever etched in my mind, as she was so jovial and happy and that was a real “memorable lasting moment” for me. Your mother was truly an icon to me.
Our sincere condolences, Dianne, Melody, and Don and may the fond memories you have of your mother provide you with strength and comfort as you walk through the days ahead.
John and Melleny Yost,
Calgary.
