Paul was predeceased by his mother Maria (Glowasky) Zaparaniuk, father Wasyl Zaparaniuk, and siblings
Sophie, Jim, Sally, John, Annie, George, Steve, and Peter.
Paul was born in Smeaton, Saskatchewan on July 30, 1941 to Wasyl and Maria Zaparaniuk; the youngest
of nine children.
Paul passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 4, 2025 at Jubilee Care Home in Lloydminster. He
grew up on the family farm where he spent his younger years helping with farming, livestock and the
family sawmill. Paul attended Guideme School where he had to walk 2 1/2 miles to school and then when
the family moved to Snowden he later attended Elkridge School.
At the age of 16, and at the request of his mother, his brother John took Paul to Edmonton to work with
him doing construction and concrete work. Paul worked at many jobs during his lifetime. He worked
near the Yukon Border at an Asbestos mine at Cassiar BC. Later he travelled to Ontario to again work
with his brother John in the construction business. Paul loved to travel and while in Ontario he
traveled and saw a lot of wonderful places like Niagara Falls, Peggy’s Cove and Florida Keys. When he
moved back to Saskatchewan in the 1980s Paul spent many enjoyable family outings with nieces and
nephews, canoeing, skiing, fishing and visiting at the MacKenzie cabin at Candle Lake where family
gathered most weekends.
Paul worked hard all his life and the job he loved the most was grader operator on road construction
which he did for some thirty years until his retirement at the age of 73 years.
