Obituary of Leona Ann Huxley
Leona Ann Huxley, (nee Worman), fondly known as “Onie” passed away peacefully at Points West Living, Lloydminster Alberta on Saturday November 8, 2025, at the age of 87 years.
Leona was born on the farm in Lilydale, south of Maidstone SK. In her younger years, she enjoyed baseball, basketball, and choir. Leona, alongside her husband George Huxley, farmed together for many years just outside of Maidstone. Leona was very active, enjoying bowling, curling and gardening. She loved to travel and spend time with family at Turtle Lake SK. Leona volunteered with many community organizations in Maidstone and Lloydminster throughout her lifetime. She served as town councilor and was proud to be the first female Mayor of Maidstone. Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She was generous and always was willing to help others.
Leona is survived by her two daughters; Laura (Charles) Cruickshank and Maxine (Paul) Schwartz; two grandchildren, Chantelle Pichette and Kyle Cruickshank; two great-grandsons, Cayne and Stone Pichette; step-daughter Kathy (Larry) Paul and family; step-son Darryl (Fran) Leighton and family; sister Inez (Des) Holtby and family; brother Glen (Lois) And family, brother Bill (Diana) Worman and family, sisters-in-law Paulette Huxley and Doreen Hope; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Leona is predeceased by her husbands, George Huxley and George Leighton; also, by her parents Cliff and Sylvia Worman.
Honoring Leonas wishes, no formal funeral service will be held.
If desired, donations in memory of Leona may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
