Obituary of Bjarne Olsen

Olsen, Bjarne It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loved one, Bjarne Olsen, 67, of Lloydminster, AB at the Lloydminster Hospital on Monday February 3, 2020. Bjarne fought a long hard battle with diabetes which led to him losing both his legs and kidney failure. He also suffered a heart attack and most recently lung and bone cancer. Bjarne was born in Sorø, Denmark on November 13, 1952 to Paul and Elly Olsen. The family moved to Canada in May of 1957. Bjarne is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cheryl Olsen, his sons Gary Olsen and BJ Olsen, granddaughter Katara Dauncey-Olsen, Grandson Dixon Olsen and his honorary daughters Jackie (Darren) Tuplin and Dalonna Jones, brother Fred (Astrid) Olsen and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bjarne was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to everyone. Bjarne was predeceased by his parents Paul and Elly Olsen as well as a son Paul Olsen. Bjarne loved fishing back in the day and really hoped to get back on the water some day. He also enjoyed watching a good WWE match with his boys. He worked as a Radiator Repairman for over 50 years. He moved to Lloydminster with his family in 2000 for work and eventually had his own shop (B&G Radiator). Due to the health issues he had to slow down and stay behind the desk and let the hired help do the heavy work. He truly enjoyed dealing with customers. He loved to play solitaire behind the desk on the computer. He spent his free time watching his favorite television shows and going for coffee with his friends. Bjarne was always there for his friends and family to the best of his ability when needed. A special thank you to the Lloydminster hospital 3rd floor nurses and doctors and to the Lloydminster Dialysis Unit for their care. Also the Vermilion and Lloydminster EMTs for the many transfers to Edmonton for appointments. We would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to Uncle George, Auntie Arlene and Vaughanne for all their help. At Bjarne’s request cremation has taken place and no service will be held at this time. A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Lloydminster Regional Health Foundation (Dialysis Unit 4910-50 Street #116 Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, S9V 0X5)
