We got to know Merilyn through our son, James, over 20 years ago. We were so fortunate to connect with her again in Viewpoint in Mesa, AZ. Merilyn had a vibrant and caring personality that made one feel like you've known her forever. She was so very proud of her boys and their families. Our sincere condolences to Glen and Allan and families.

To the McAfee and King Families My first memories of Mern were as an older cousin - smart, friendly, fun, always smiling and laughing, generous with her time. Someone I looked forward to spending time with. I thought she was one of the coolest people I knew. As I got older and we had careers and families of our own, I unfortunately saw less and less of her. But I still thought she was a very special person. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I shared our room at the Foothills recovery floor, on march 25 , 26, and found how lucky I was to be put in that room. When I was wheeled into that ward of three, I can still picture the LADY sitting at her bed with a big smile on her face. That was MERILYN. We had many discussions about family, life and world happenings. She was a great person and I wish I could have met her again. I sent Merilyn family history from Claresholm area, small world, My sincere thoughts and prayers are with you all

Dearest Judy, Anne and Alex - I am just shocked and saddened to read of the passing of Marilyn. Although we only crossed paths a couple of times - I remember her as a very friendly, radiant and classy lady. She is someone who I have never forgotten. I'm so pleased to have had the opportunity to watch her wonderful memorial service and learn of all her outstanding accomplishments. She aged "very well" and it was so nice to see her enjoying life to its fullest. What a terrible loss for your small family. By reflecting on the many, many happy times shared I trust it will help to ease your deep sorrow at this very sad time. Anne - If you are still living in Edm I would love to hear from you and see how Judy and Alex are doing. (780) 430-0792 Hugs from Marlene Lagore (Glen) nee McNalley (Tizzard).

My sincere sympathies go out to Merilyn’s family. I knew Merilyn when she and Judy started taking my line dance classes several years ago. Merilyn was always friendly, kind, warm, generous and just fun to have in class. She was always practicing and always came prepared, loving the challenge of learning new dances. She loved to dance and it showed, not just in my classes but by learning all kinds of different dance genres. I used to wonder where she got her energy. She will be missed by so many people. Heaven has gained a dancing angel.

To all Merilyn’s family our heart felt condolences as she was such a friend to so many people. Even as a young age she was such a classy person and a real role model for the rest of us at school and her teaching career and family years were the same. We have always kept in touch and were lucky enough to be able to purchase land from Merilyn’s Mom and Dad so we think of the whole family often . We have been so fortunate to have had the chance to be part of Merilyn’s life. Dick and Bev TIPLER

I met Mernie when she was 3 and I was 4.
Her parents had invited our family for supper! My dad hooked up the team and piled hay into the bottom of the grain wagon. My mom put hot rocks into the bottom also and off we went!
Mernie and I played together that evening and the last time we communicated was a month before her passing! She was such a treasured friend whom I will miss terribly. Eileen ( Szabados ) Nagel

Mrs. King was my inspirational reading teacher and she imparted a love of reading that I have to this day. She was also a teacher that I aspired to be. Her traits of caring, kindness and patience that she exhibited in the classroom, were the same traits I tried to emulate when I started teaching myself, because they left so much of an impression on me, as did her grace and style. I would like to extend my heartfelt sympathy to Glen, Allan, and their families. With caring thoughts and prayers,
