Raymond Leguerrier

Obituary of Raymond Dennis Leguerrier

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Ray Leguerrier on Saturday, February 19, 2022. He passed away peacefully at the Pioneer House at the age of 89 years. He was born in the Fort Kent area on January 5th, 1933 to Remi and Isabelle Leguerrier. They moved to Beaver Dam, where he went to school until grade 4. Being the oldest son, he was needed to help out, by hauling water, cutting wood and doing chores that needed to be done. He was a fast learner. As a young boy he worked where he could. He was a jack of all trades; he was a welder, did great carpenter work, a mechanic, truck driver etc. Ray met and married Edith Cowan in 1996 and became a step-father, grandfather, and great grandfather to Edith’s children. After they both retired, they liked to go to garage sales, long drives and enjoy visits with family. Ray spent many hours building and making things for all of us. He made things with love, and we will cherish them for years to come. Ray was predeceased by his Parents Remi and Isabelle, his 1st wife Thelma, 2nd wife Edith, Stepdaughter Janet Smith, grandson Robbie Dumont, brother Bob, sisters Fleurette and Marguerite, brothers in law Gene and Harvey, Sister-in-law Diane. Ray will be lovingly remembered by his stepchildren Freda (Ric) Hutchinson and family, Dianne (Marvin) Mardell and family, Family of the Late Janet Smith, Bruce (Janet) Cowan and family, Cary Cowan (Kristin Mesenchuk); Sisters Helene, Leonie, Jeannie (Bill), Louise (Bob); Brothers Guy (Jeanne) and Leon (Mila); Good Friend Kevin Kobas We would like to extend a big thank you to the staff at the Pioneer House for the love and care they gave to Ray. Also, thank you to the Homecare and Palliative Care Team. At Ray’s request, there will be no funeral service. If so desired donations in Ray’s memory may be made to the Pioneer House or charity of donor’s choice.
