I feel so blessed to have known Mrs. Becher. She was a gifted educator and one of my teaching heroes. I will always remember the joyful and fun way that she would read to us. I would often think of her as I prepared my own teaching lessons and feel inspired to bring literature to life in that gifted way that she did for me. She had such warmth in her smile and a true kindness. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

To Henry and family.....Heaven has truly gained a bright angel, as we mourn our loss of Mrs. Becher.
I fondly remember very well, the passion, conviction and yes, the antics of Luella. She had a distinct mischievous twinkle in her eye, and even though I’m sad to hear that she was a Rider’s fan, I know that half of the reason for that, would have been the fun that came from the banter surrounding it!
Under normal conditions, we all know that this church, in which she truly was a “proclaimer”, would be brimming with people for this memorial. Most likely not important for her, but it would be for us.
We look forward to a celebration of her life perhaps at a later date. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. A very nice memorial service and touching eulogy for a brilliant lady and follower of Christ. Be well.

Mrs Becher was my all time favorite teacher. I was lucky enough to have her teach English grade 9-12, and a few other courses here & there. The older i got into my adulthood, the more & more i understood how exceptional of a teacher she really was. She was so respectful of every single student, regardless of their grades and in turn i cannot think if a single student who didn't fully respect her. She was strict, without ever raising her voice, no one even thought to misbehave in her class ever, she knew how & when to laugh (often), her classes were just a joy, i just can't even describe how much i loved her as a teacher. I never saw her without perfectly painted fingernails (long before nail appointments were ever a thing), her hair and makeup always done. She was so fair to all of her students. She read every single novel and every Shakespere play aloud, cover to cover. There wasn't a student who didn't love her reading. And each Shakespere play she paraphrased so everyone enjoyed the full story. Mrs Becher passed away at the age of 77. I once might have thought this was "old" but this was way way too early, too young. Mrs Becher was a true hero, a legend as an educator and was still working/subbing right up till school stopped a few weeks ago (to my understanding). I am deeply saddened by her passing. She had a very large family and it broke my heart to view her online funeral service to see that even her own grandchildren could not attend her service during this time, not to mention the masses of people who she made a difference in their lives over her entire life. May you rest in peace Mrs Becher, in Heaven as i know you are. You were a blessing to me.

My favourite memory of Luella - one day I was shopping with my teenage daughter. We turned around and there was Luella, trying on the same poncho as my daughter was buying. She laughed and said, "This is how I stay young. I wear what the kids are wearing." Every day that I saw her wear her poncho at school, I smiled at the memory. Her young-hearted spirit was truly inspirational!

We have many fond memories of Mrs. Becher...her calm and soothing voice (we could listen to her read all day), her kind and caring personality made you feel you were truly an important part of her classroom family, her beautiful left
handed handwriting was as close as you could get to perfection, and all the extra curricular events she meticulously planned. Mr. and Mrs. Becher were a great team and created a strong Catholic school community. We feel so blessed to have the Bechers help shape our lives. So full of talent and she shared this gift with so many, including those "new" teachers at The Bless. I was one of those in 1981 and I have so many memories of Luella. She devoted her life to her family, her school and her students. We will all cherish the time we had and she will be extremely missed. Henry and family, I am so sorry to hear of Luella’s passing. Luella played a key role in my grade 9 year. Never once did she criticize any of my hopes and dreams, one which was to play in the NHL. Her ability to teach math was fundamental for me. As an average student I finally felt like I could excel in a subject all due to the manner in which she took the time to teach it. Luella was also a great drama instructor. One day she had us create impromptus. My groups words were bread, ketchup and ice rink. I had never seen a teacher cry from laughter; she had faith in all of is. My first year as a teacher was at the Blessed Sacrament. What an honour it was to be on staff with both Luella and Henry. From a former student and now educator, we never know the fruits of our labour; I am thankful that I benefited from her career! I went on to teach math in much the same way that Luella did. You are in my prayers that you find comfort in the wonderful times you shared as a family. My condolences! Jane Lagace

This world and Wainwright in particular has changed with the loss of such a strong intelligent deeply caring woman. You will never know the full impact Louella has on those lucky enough to be in her classes. The love of creating art I have to this day was encouraged and nurtured by Louella and I know my siblings (Laurene, Daniel and Julian) have their own fond memories. Luella was a talented teacher who loved to teach; believed students learned with at least five senses, and needed structure in the classroom; therein lies her success with so many students. My children also benefited from her teaching . As you all know she was a very organized , energetic and talented woman, who shared her many talents within the School, Community and Church. As I recall she was quite a hockey fan! She also made the best Lemon Summit Bars. Just recently I asked her secret...she used butter instead of margarine!!
