Obituary of Dixie Leigh Bowen
Dixie was born to Don and Francis Redmond in Wainwright. Dixie was raised on the Redmond family farm north of Edgerton. She married her sweetheart, Rod, on August 4, 1979 and together they made their life on the same family farm. While raising the boys and helping Rod on the farm, Dixie served the community of Wainwright and area for 37 years through her H&R Block business. Dixie passed away, after a short but valiant battle with cancer, with her family by her side at 60 years of age. She is already sorely missed.
She will be forever remembered by her husband of 38 years, Rod; sons, Josh & Caleb; siblings-in-law, Shirley (Terry) McKinney, Sharon Dreeshen, Carla Bowen, Karen McLeod & Charlie (Darlene) Bowen; her uncle Ernie Casselman; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dixie was predeceased by her parents, Don & Francis; parents-in-law, Haydn & Yvette Bowen; brother, Darcy; and aunt, Norma Casselman (nee Patterson).
Remembering Dixie's heart, here is one of her favourite pieces of scripture:
Psalm 139: 12-14
...even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 3, 2018, 2:00p.m. from the Chauvin Gospel Centre, Chauvin, AB with Pastor Peter Grimes and Pastor Fred Sirrett officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Edgerton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Cross Cancer Society or Arthritis Society of Alberta.
