Obituary of Dorothy Mary Allan

We are sad to say goodbye to our dearest aunt Dorothy who passed away peacefully on January 10 at the Wainwright Auxiliary Hospital, Long Term Care at the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed by nephew, Jim Mossman (Mary) of Calgary; niece, Marlene Welsh (Richard) of Cold Lake; nephew James Allan of Edmonton; as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Jim and Mary Allan; sister, Gladys Mossman; brother, Alex Allan; brother-in-law, Evan Mossman and sister-in-law, Eloise Allan. Dorothy was born and raised on Allan Brae Dairy Farm north of Hughenden. In her younger years she delivered milk in the area, worked at the Red & White store and longer with the Provost School division branch in Hughenden. In 1967 she stopped working to care for her mother. Dorothy then moved to town and began a 20 year career providing daycare for Hughenden area children. This was a job she mastered and loved. Many of these young adults kept in touch until her passing. Dorothy loved NHL hockey, and the Calgary Flames were her team! Her favorite past time was having tea and cookies with her friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidery.
