Dear Helvi
We are so sorry that we could not be there to share in the celebration of your life. It would have been so good to be there with the rest of your family. You were so proud of them all.
When we said good bye after our last dinner together, before you headed out west, we were sure that there would be many more long conversations on the phone sharing recipes and stories of our grand child and your grand children and great grand children And of course, how was the fishing and the golf out there this season and how was your garden and what was Peter up to around the house.
In the past couple of years, we hadn’t been at the cottage very much, and one of the things we missed most, by not going up, was seeing you and Peter, playing 9 holes of golf and then having dinner and drinks together.
It was always such fun to NOT! discuss politics but we always did, sort of....and laughed about it.
Dinners at your place were always special because you were such an awesome cook, and Thanksgiving dinners were always best when they ended with your pies.
You were always called the favourite aunt, and you always reminded everyone that you were the only aunt....be that as it may, no matter how many other aunts there might have been, you would still have been the favourite!
We have thought of you often since you moved out west and tried to keep in touch. Your birthday card and gift are in the mail....too far to deliver it in person anymore. It is just serviettes, your favourite gift whenever we would visit.
We will miss you, Helvi, but you have left us with many memories that we will have forever. love Carol and Bob
