Obituary of Annie Drummond

Annie Drummond ( nee Habok) March 20, 1920 to December 3, 2011 It is with great sadness that the family of Annie Drummond (nee Habok) announces her peaceful passing at the Dr Cooke Extended Care Center in Lloydminster, AB, at the age of 91 years. Annie leaves to cherish her memory… two children, Pat (Cliff) Willment of Medicine Hat, AB and Garry (Sandy) Drummond of Airdrie, AB; five Grandchildren, Rick (Trish) of Lloydminster, AB, Lora-Lee (Randy) of Medicine Hat, AB, Cory (Stacey) of Surrey, BC and Lee ( Shawna) of Airdrie, AB and Michael (Linda) of Kernersville, NC; twelve Great Grandchildren; five Sisters and three Brothers as well as many Nieces and Nephews. Annie was predeceased by her husband William Miller (Ace) Drummond, her parents…Fred and Mary Habok, her son Leonard Gerow and her sisters Mary and Ayrain. Annie was born and raised on a farm near Kenton, MB on March 20, 1920. She met her future husband Ace after WW2 in Brandon, MB and they were married on September 22, 1947. They spent 59 wonderful years together, raising their two children…Pat and Garry. They started their married life in Brandon, MB and moved to Fort William, ON in 1953 when Dad started working for Husky Oil. In 1963 Husky transferred Dad to their Alberta Pipeline Division so the family then moved west to Lloydminster, AB. Mom led a busy life with her gardening, cooking, quilting, bowling, golfing, camping trips, family visits and volunteer work. After Dad retired they enjoyed travelling to Hawaii for the winter months for many years. Mom cared for Dad and helped him stay in their home for as long as possible, before his move to the Dr Cooke Extended Care Center, where she continued to spend her days with Dad until he passed in 2006. Mom was a very active senior...she never drove so was an avid walker. This activity led her to walk in a Half Marathon in Saskatoon when she was 88 years old! She was the oldest participant and at the finish line she did a little gig with a big grin of accomplishment. Mom loved to dance and was usually the life of the party; she lived her life to the fullest. Mom’s health was good and she continued to live in her condo until she suffered two sudden strokes in September 2009. She battled back and recovered well enough to become a resident of the Dr Cooke Extended Care Cente. After suffering a paralyzing stroke the end of August Mom passed away on December 3, 2011. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr DuPlooy and the Dr Cooke Extended Care Center Staff, for taking such good care of our Mom/Grandmother/Great Grandmother. As per Mom’s wishes a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations maybe made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donors choice. “Mom was the heart and soul of our family and we’ll all miss her warmth and kindness tremendously”.
