Margaret Wolters passed away peacefully in her sleep early on November 23, 2024. She was 86 years old.
She is survived by her four children Cathy Wolters, Bryon Wolters, Gwen (Marc) Rajotte and Rita (Dale) Mitchell; her much loved grandchildren Riley (fiancé Whitney Rideout) Wolters, Taylor (Kaitlyn) Wolters, Julie (Luke) Warrilow, Megan (fiancé Ty Martin) Wolters, Jared (Heather Rempel) Rajotte, Curtis (Brooklyne) Rajotte, Otto (Tressa) Mitchell, Tessa Mitchell and Molly Mitchell; and, her beloved great grandchildren Rayna, Westin, Abbi, William, Cooper, Emmett and Crew.
She also leaves a cherished extended family including siblings, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends including the incredibly special Birthday Girls.
She was predeceased by her husband Elmer in 2012 and her granddaughter Adriana Rajotte in 2014.
Margaret was born in Lloydminster on May 10, 1938, to Roger and Ethel Watt. She was raised in the Koknee district, went to Union School and high school in Vermilion. She completed her normal school training at the University of Alberta and began teaching that spring at J.R.Robson in Vermilion.
She and Elmer were married in 1961 and during the next 50 years they raised their four children, farmed, took part in family and community events, and volunteered with community organizations. They moved into Vermilion in 1994.
After retiring from JR, she went on to teach at the Vermilion Outreach School. She was also executive secretary of the Park Plains ATA local for more than a decade and secretary for two REAs.
Margaret was extremely proud of her family. She delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her eyes sparkled when they visited, Facetimed, were viewed in pictures and brought up in conversation.
Her smile was legendary. And, so was her teacher look.
Special thanks to the staff of Wainwright and Vermilion Long Term Care for their love and care over the past two years.
A Celebration of Margaret Wolters’ Life will be held at the Vermilion Regional Centre on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
