Obituary of Colin Crane

Dr. Colin Stuart Crane of Edmonton, Alberta went to be with his Saviour on May 3, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Colin was born in Exeter, England on November 27, 1930. He graduated from Medicine from Guy's Hospital, University of London in 1960. Later that year, he married a nurse, Freya Hyde. Dr. Crane practised for 39 years: 10 years in the U.K. Hospital Service in Emergency, Obstetrics and Surgery, emigrating from Ayr, Scotland to Vermilion, Alberta in 1970, where he worked for 29 dedicated years as a much beloved Surgeon and General Practitioner. Colin was always an active church member, attending the Parkview Alliance Church in Vermilion for 39 years and then 5 at Ellerslie Road Baptist Church in Edmonton. Colin is survived by the true love of his life, Freya; sons Miles (Lenora), Neil (Donna) and Ian (Tammy); granddaughters Nancy (Eric), Kim, Danielle and Christine; sister Shirley (located in the U.K.); as well as numerous relatives and friends. Colin succumbed to complications following a fall outdoors. Freya and the family express deep gratitude to the medical staff and nurses of the Grey Nuns Hospital Unit 45 for their exemplary and compassionate care. A Celebration of Dr. Colin Crane's life will be held at Parkview Alliance Church, located at 5902 - 51 Avenue, Vermilion on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will take place previous to the service.
