Obituary of Bob Tait
Robert (Bob) Tait of Vermilion, beloved husband of Patricia (Pat) Tait, passed away suddenly on June 21, 2013 at the age of 68 years. Bob was born in Wilkie, SK in 1944. He grew up in Rockhaven, SK with his parents, brother, and four sisters. He took his schooling in Rockhaven and then Cutknife. Bob met Pat at a dance and swept her off her feet. They were married in 1964 in Unity, SK. Their first home was a "small mansion" in Rockhaven. They moved to Marwayne, AB in 1965 to operate the Marwayne Hotel and eventually had three perfectly awesome children. He was an avid curler and bonspieler all over the Lakeland areas. He enjoyed taking his boys to hockey and ball every season as well as coaching from time to time, and taking his favorite daughter to figure skating. In 1982, they moved to the marvelous town of Vermilion to start Lakeland Restaurant, "Cove Lounge". They worked hard to make the business successful and met a lot of good people in the twelve years they owned it. They opened a liquor store in Lloydminster in 1994. He then retired and enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. You could always find Bob putzing around in his yard, garden, garage, or tending to his tomato plants, waiting for 5 o'clock to come (cocktail hour). Besides his loving wife Pat, Bob is survived by his daughter Vicki (Willy) Snelgrove of Vermilion, two sons Kevin (Shelley) Tait of Marwayne, and Robbie (Amy) Tait of Lloydminster; eleven grandchildren Farrah (Justin) Snelgrove, Brady Snelgrove, Melisa Snelgrove, Aaron (Bailey) Snelgrove, and Jay (Tammy) Snelgrove all of Vermilion; Peter Tait of Australia, Jonathan Tait and Matthew Tait both of Lloydminster; Tamerel (Tim) Richard, Tyrone Hickey, and Taryn (Zach) Hickey all of Lloydminster; four sisters Meryl (Larry) Joel of Elbow SK, Sadie (Frank) Guy of Havelock ON, Susan (Edwin) Ruberry and Sharon Cooke all of Dewberry; and one brother Percy (Donna) Tait of Saskatoon SK. Bob is predeceased by his parents James (Jim) and Audrey Tait and sisters Freda and Wilma Tait. A Memorial Service will be held at the Vermilion Elks Hall on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
